Ambient AI scribe
Every plan. Desktop, web app, iPhone and Android.
Start a recording when the visit starts and talk with your patient as usual. When you stop, VoiceboxMD drafts a structured note in the template you picked. Recordings must be at least 15 seconds; on the phone a recording can run up to 4 hours. The ambient scribe works in English.
Live dictation into the EHR

Put your cursor in any EHR text box on your Windows PC or Mac and speak. The words land in that box as you talk. On the web app and the phone, dictation goes into the built-in note editor. Dictation offers English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Hindi; English is the medically tuned model.
Your phone as the desktop microphone
Every plan. iPhone or Android with the desktop app.
Turn on "Receive dictation from phone" in the desktop app and dictate into your phone. The text types at the cursor on your computer, so you can walk the room and still chart in the EHR.

Upload a recording made elsewhere and get the same structured note. WAV, MP3 or M4A, up to 60 minutes and 150 MB per file, 10 uploads in any 24 hours.
Philips SpeechMike button

Hold the Record button on a Philips SpeechMike to dictate, release to stop. The default keyboard shortcut is Cmd or Ctrl + Shift + Space.
Perio charting by voice (dental)

Two formats are built in: SOAP (Subjective, Objective, Assessment, Plan) and a full H&P with 11 sections. SOAP is the default.
Your own note templates, with AI instructions
Every plan. Built on web or phone, picked on any device.
Build up to 50 templates with your own sections and required fields, plus written instructions for the AI (for example, "write the plan as a numbered list"). DAP, BIRP, progress notes or any specialty layout can be built this way.
AI Format

Dictate or type in the editor however it comes out, then press AI Format. The text is rearranged into the sections of your template, with one undo if you want the original back.
Macros

Placing the note in your EHR
The desktop app on Windows and Mac pastes the finished note into the EHR field you are in. It works with any EHR you can type into on that computer, with no plugin.
Click into the EHR
With a finished note on screen in the desktop app, click the EHR field where the note belongs.
Place the whole note
Press Cmd or Ctrl + Alt + 0. The full note, the same text as Copy All, goes into that field.
Or one section at a time
Press Cmd or Ctrl + Alt + 1 to 9 to place one section (Subjective, Assessment, and so on) into the field you are in, then click the next field.
On the web app and the phone you copy the whole note or one section and paste it. A note recorded on the phone also shows up in the desktop app, ready to place. On a Mac, turn on the Accessibility permission for VoiceboxMD, or nothing can be placed.
Writing style that learns from your edits (Premium)
On the Premium plan ($99/mo), VoiceboxMD compares the drafts it wrote with the notes you kept and writes plain-English rules about how you like notes written. It needs 10 notes before it takes effect. You start the learning on the web app, and you can edit or turn off any rule. The rules then apply to every ambient note.

Can VoiceboxMD put the note straight into my EHR?
Yes, from the desktop app on Windows or Mac. Click the EHR field and press Cmd or Ctrl + Alt + 0 to place the whole note, or Cmd or Ctrl + Alt + 1 to 9 to place one section. Live dictation types into whatever field has your cursor. There is no EHR plugin or API connection; the text is pasted where you click, so nothing is signed or filed for you. On the web app and the phone you copy the note (or a section) and paste it.
Does VoiceboxMD suggest billing codes?
On the Power and Premium plans, yes. After the note is drafted you get a list of candidate ICD-10 and CPT codes, each with a confidence score and the text in the note that supports it. You decide which to use. The superbill is built on the web app. The Essential plan does not include code suggestions.
Which note formats can it write?
SOAP and H&P are built in. Anything else, such as DAP, BIRP, progress notes or a specialty layout, is a template you build yourself on the web app or phone, with your own sections and instructions for the AI. You can keep up to 50 templates and pick any of them on desktop, web or phone.
Can I use my phone as the scribe?
Yes. The iPhone and Android apps record the visit and draft the note, and that note also appears in the desktop app, where you can place it into the EHR with the shortcut keys. The phone can also act as a wireless microphone for the desktop, so dictated text types at your computer’s cursor.
Can it record telehealth visits?
The scribe records from your microphone. It does not capture the audio of a video call from the call software itself, so plan on that before you rely on it for telehealth.
What languages does it support?
The ambient scribe works in English. Live dictation on desktop and web offers English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Hindi; English uses the medically tuned model and the other languages use a general model.
How long is my audio kept, and is there a BAA?
Audio is deleted 7 days after it is recorded, by a cleanup job that runs every 15 minutes and logs each deletion. Your notes stay in your account. A Business Associate Agreement is included on every plan, including the trial.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. The trial is 7 days on monthly billing and 14 days on annual, on the plan you choose. A card is taken at sign-up and is not charged during the trial. There is no annual contract on monthly plans, and you can cancel any time.
