AdvancedMD Dictation Software
Talk instead of typing in AdvancedMD, and in everything else you use during the day. Install it yourself, dictate in minutes, nothing to switch on inside AdvancedMD.
Dictation That Follows You Out of the Chart
Most of a practice’s typing happens in AdvancedMD. Not all of it. There is the referral letter, the portal message, the note to the biller, the prior-auth form on somebody else’s website. Tools that live inside one system stop at its edge, and you go back to the keyboard for everything else.
VoiceboxMD types wherever your cursor is, so the same voice, the same shortcuts, and the same medical vocabulary work in every one of those places. AdvancedMD sees ordinary typing, which is why there is nothing to install on their side and nothing that breaks when they release an update.
Why Independent Practices Use It
One tool for the whole day, not just the chart
A visit does not end in the EHR. There is the referral letter, the message to the patient, the note to your biller, the form in a different tab. VoiceboxMD types into all of them, because it types wherever your cursor is.
Nothing to configure in AdvancedMD
There is no plugin, no marketplace listing, and no permission to request. VoiceboxMD types at the operating-system level, so AdvancedMD sees ordinary keystrokes and keeps working normally after every update.
One flat price per provider
Plans start at $49 per provider per month with no per-note charge, no minimum number of seats, and no annual contract. What a provider costs this month is what they cost next month.
Made for how independent practices actually work
Add a provider when you hire one and remove them when they leave. Share a macro library across the whole practice so everyone gets the same phrasing. No implementation project between deciding and starting.
99% accuracy across specialties
More than 100,000 medical terms, drug names, ICD-10 and CPT codes, covering more than 100 specialties, including the ones independent practices most often run: mental health, physical therapy, dermatology, orthopedics, and primary care.
Mac as well as Windows
A native Mac app, Apple Silicon and Intel, plus Windows. Practices rarely run one kind of computer, and nobody should have to buy a PC to dictate.
Three Steps to Your First Note
Install it once
Download VoiceboxMD for Mac or Windows. About two minutes, no administrator needed, and nothing to switch on inside AdvancedMD.
Work in AdvancedMD as usual
Open the chart, the message, or the billing note you were going to type into. Put your cursor in the box.
Hold your hotkey and speak
The words appear as you talk. Stop when you are done. Nothing about your AdvancedMD workflow changes.
Dictation Inside One System, or Across All of Them
| Factor | VoiceboxMD | Dictation built into a single system |
|---|---|---|
| Where it types | Any application on your computer | Only inside the EHR |
| Setup | Install and start | Enable, configure, sometimes train |
| Cost model | Flat monthly price per provider | Often per note or per minute |
| Mac support | Native | Varies |
| If you change EHR | Nothing to redo | Starts again |
| Contract | Monthly, cancel anytime | Varies |
This compares approaches, not vendors: what any tool built into one system can reach, against a tool that types anywhere. For your own setup, the honest test is a free trial in your own practice.
Try it in your own AdvancedMD account. Dictate one note, then dictate a referral letter in your email and see the difference.
Start free trialAdvancedMD Dictation, Frequently Asked Questions
Does VoiceboxMD work with AdvancedMD?
Yes, on Mac and Windows. VoiceboxMD types into whatever field your cursor is in, so it works across AdvancedMD the same way your keyboard does: clinical notes, patient messages, billing notes, and any other box you can type in.
Do we have to set anything up in AdvancedMD first?
No. There is no plugin, no marketplace app, and no API key. Because VoiceboxMD types at the operating-system level, AdvancedMD receives normal keystrokes and there is nothing on their side to install or maintain.
AdvancedMD already has AI documentation features. Why add this?
Because dictation is not only an EHR problem. VoiceboxMD works in every application on your computer: the referral letter in your email, the message in the portal, the note to your biller, the form on another website. Practices generally use it for everything they type, and it costs one flat price per provider regardless of how much you dictate.
Can it write the note, not just transcribe?
Yes, on every plan. Dictate a short summary after the visit and the AI structures it into a full note, or let the ambient scribe listen to the visit and draft it. You review and edit before anything is final.
Is it HIPAA compliant, and is the BAA extra?
It is, and the BAA is included with every plan at no extra cost, including during the free trial. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, recordings are deleted within 24 hours, and nothing you dictate is used to train AI models.
What happens when we add or lose a provider?
You add or remove a seat yourself from your account page and the bill follows. There is no minimum, no annual commitment, and no renegotiation, which matters for a practice whose headcount moves during the year.
