Epic dictation (also called speech-to-text or voice recognition) converts your spoken words directly into text in real time. You speak, and the words appear on screen inside your Epic chart, like a digital transcriptionist. This is what VoiceboxMD’s Essential plan ($49/month) provides.

Yes. VoiceboxMD is built for healthcare from the ground up with enterprise-grade security. All voice data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. Audio files are automatically deleted after processing and are never stored on servers. Business Associate Agreements (BAA) are provided to every subscriber at no additional cost, unlike Dragon Medical, which charges $1,499–$1,599/year separately for BAA documentation.

VoiceboxMD meets all HIPAA requirements for protecting protected health information (PHI), including encryption, controlled access, and secure handling of audio and transcripts.

VoiceboxMD works in every Epic text field that accepts keyboard input. This includes but is not limited to: progress notes, history and physical (H&P) documentation, discharge summaries, operative reports, Epic MyChart patient messages, In Basket replies, referral letters, procedure notes, and clinical orders with free-text fields.
